About the MacBook Pro Retina 15″ A1398 (Mid 2015)

The MacBook Pro Retina 15" A1398 (Mid 2015) featured a groundbreaking 2880x1800 Retina display in the 15-inch form factor with model number A1398. It paired quad-core Intel i7 processors with dedicated graphics and flash storage in a design that was thinner than any previous 15-inch MacBook Pro. We repair every component at our Perth Road workshop in Dundee.

Display delamination (Staingate) affects this generation significantly. Battery swelling, SSD failure, and thermal issues from the dedicated GPU are also common repair reasons. The RAM is soldered and cannot be upgraded. Our technicians have over 20 years' combined experience and handle these Retina 15-inch models regularly.

The Retina 15-inch is a powerful machine that's well worth repairing. Screen coating problems and battery swelling are the main issues. Drap it in to Perth Road, we'll sort it oot.

The A1398 Retina 15-inch was produced from Mid 2012 to Mid 2015. Each revision brought updated processors and graphics. All share the same internal hardware and accept identical replacement parts.
