Mobile Phone Repair Shop Dundee
Phone screen cracked? Battery dying by lunchtime? We repair all makes and models at our Perth Road workshop. iPhones, Samsung, Google Pixel, Huawei, OnePlus and more. Most screen repairs done within the hour, and we’ll tell you exactly what it costs before we touch anything.
Your phone hits the pavement outside Dundee railway station. That horrible spider’s web of cracks spreads across the screen. You’ve got client calls this afternoon, your daughter’s school might ring about pickup, and your whole life is on that phone.
We fix phones at our Perth Road workshop. iPhones, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, and other Android devices. Screen repairs, battery replacements, charging ports, water damage, software issues, and more. Most repairs are done in one to two hours while you wait or go for a coffee on Perth Road.
We’re not a mail-in service and we’re not a franchise. We’re a local repair shop where you hand us your phone, we tell you exactly what’s wrong and what it costs, and you get it back the same day. No hidden fees, no upselling, no “we need to send it away.”
Emma, a marketing manager from the West End, smashed her iPhone screen leaving Dundee railway station after a meeting in Edinburgh. “My whole life was on that phone. I couldn’t afford to be without it for even a day.” By 2 o’clock that same afternoon, she walked out with a perfect screen. “I honestly didn’t believe it could be fixed that quickly.”
Screen Repair
Screen repairs make up around two thirds of our daily workload. Cracked glass, shattered displays, touch sensitivity problems, and dead sections of the screen. Not all screen damage is the same though. What looks like a minor corner crack might have damaged the digitiser underneath, affecting touch in that area. We check before quoting.
We handle screen repairs for iPhone models from the iPhone 6 through to the latest iPhone 16 series. Newer models take slightly longer because of the Face ID components that need to be carefully transferred to the new display. Rush this step and you lose Face ID. We don’t rush it.
For Samsung Galaxy screens, the curved edges on S-series models need careful heat application to soften the adhesive. It takes a bit longer than iPhone screens but the end result should last as long as the original.
A cracked screen isn’t just cosmetic. The cracks weaken the glass structure, let dust and moisture inside, and will eventually cause the touchscreen to stop responding in certain areas. If you’re squinting past a cracked screen right now, it’s only going to get worse. Get it sorted before a minor crack becomes a completely dead display.
Lisa, a nurse at Ninewells, came in with what looked like a minor crack in the corner of her iPhone 14. “It’s just cosmetic,” she said. Our diagnostic found the crack had damaged the digitiser underneath, affecting touch sensitivity in that corner. Good thing she brought it in before it got worse.
Battery Replacement
Your phone dies by lunchtime even though you’ve barely used it. Battery health drops naturally over time. Once it hits about 80% capacity, the decline accelerates. Most folk suffer with it far longer than they should, carrying chargers everywhere, when a battery replacement makes it feel brand new again.
A swollen battery is a safety issue. If your screen is lifting away from the frame or the back glass is pushing out, that’s the battery expanding with gas. Stop using the phone and bring it in. Swollen batteries can damage other components and in rare cases are a fire risk.
We offer quality replacement batteries for iPhones and Samsung Galaxy devices. The replacement typically takes about an hour. A new battery gives your phone another two years of solid battery life. It’s the most cost-effective repair you can do, and it keeps a perfectly good phone out of the landfill for a few more years.
Charging Port Repair
“I have to wiggle the cable just right to get it to charge.” We hear this several times a week. Charging port issues usually start small (a loose cable, a specific angle needed) and get worse until the phone won’t charge at all.
Sometimes it’s just pocket fluff packed into the Lightning or USB-C port. A careful clean sorts it without replacing anything. Other times the port contacts are genuinely worn out from daily use and need replacing. We check which before quoting.
Charging port issues also affect data transfer and audio on some phones, because the charging port module often includes the microphone and headphone jack. If folk can’t hear you on calls or your headphones aren’t working, a faulty charging port assembly might be the culprit. We test all related functions during the repair.
iPhone 15 onwards uses USB-C instead of Lightning. Different connector, same wear patterns. We repair both. For a deeper look at charging port problems, see our dedicated charging port page.
Water Damage Recovery
Rice doesn’t fix water damage. It absorbs some surface moisture while corrosion quietly destroys your phone’s internals underneath. If your phone has been in water, coffee, beer, or any other liquid:
- Power it off immediately
- Don’t try to charge it
- Don’t shake it or use a hairdryer
- Bring it to us as fast as you can
The sooner we can open it up and clean the board with specialist equipment, the better your chances. We’ve saved phones that seemed completely dead after spills, and recovered data from ones that couldn’t be saved. Time is the critical factor. Every hour that passes lets corrosion spread further.
Even phones with IP68 water resistance can suffer water damage. The seals degrade over time, and real-world liquids (soapy water, salt water, coffee, alcohol) are more aggressive than the clean still water used in lab testing. A two-year-old phone is less water resistant than the day you bought it. For the full breakdown, see our water damage repair page.
Software Issues
Not every phone problem needs new parts. Slow performance, apps crashing, camera not working, delayed messages. Sometimes a software restore and cleanup is all it takes.
We’ll always check whether your problem is software or hardware before recommending parts replacement. If software fixes it, that’s a cheaper and faster repair for you.
Common software issues we see: phones stuck on the boot logo, apps freezing constantly, storage full warnings when you’ve barely got anything on the phone, and phones running so slow they’re unusable. Sometimes a factory reset after backing up your data sorts everything. Sometimes there’s a failing storage chip underneath that’s causing the software to misbehave. We diagnose which one before touching anything.
Phone playing up? Drap it in and we’ll take a look. Nae appointment needed.
Call UsiPhone Repairs
We repair all iPhone models from the iPhone 6 through to the iPhone 16 series. The most common repairs are screens and batteries, but we also handle camera repair, speaker replacement, back glass replacement, and software issues.
Newer iPhone models (14 Pro onwards) are more complex to repair because of the way Apple integrates components. Face ID sensors, True Tone calibration data, and battery health reporting all need careful handling during repair. We have the tools and experience for these newer models.
For iPhones, we offer a choice of screen types: aftermarket LCD (budget option), aftermarket soft OLED (best value with proper OLED quality), and original Apple screens (factory identical). We explain the differences so you can choose what suits your budget. Most folk go with the soft OLED because it’s a genuine OLED panel at a reasonable price.
For iPhone-specific repairs, see our dedicated page with more detail on each model and repair type.
Samsung Galaxy and Android Repairs
Samsung Galaxy phones make up about 80% of our Android repairs. We stock parts for the most common Galaxy models (S series, A series) and can source parts for less common models within a few days.
For Samsung screen repairs, we use Samsung service pack parts. These are proper Samsung AMOLED displays with the correct colour accuracy, brightness, and fingerprint sensor compatibility. Aftermarket Samsung screens exist but they’re noticeably inferior, especially the fingerprint sensor performance. It’s one brand where we won’t fit cheap parts.
We also repair Google Pixel, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Huawei, and other Android devices. Android repair is different from iPhone work because each manufacturer assembles their phones differently. Samsung uses adhesive and heat, Google uses different connector types, OnePlus has its own layout. Our technicians know the quirks of each brand.
Parts availability varies more for Android than iPhone. Samsung parts are readily available. Less common brands may take an extra day or two to source. We’ll always tell you upfront if parts need ordering. For Android-specific repairs, see our dedicated page.
Screen Quality Options
Not all replacement screens are equal, and this is where many repair shops cut corners. We offer three options so you can choose what suits your budget and needs:
Aftermarket screens. Manufactured by third-party companies to fit your phone model. Quality varies, but we source from suppliers whose aftermarket screens match original specifications for brightness, colour accuracy, and touch sensitivity. The most affordable option. For iPhones that originally had OLED screens, aftermarket LCD panels work but the colours won’t be as vivid and the blacks won’t be as deep.
Refurbished original screens. Genuine manufacturer screens that have been professionally restored to factory standards. Original quality at a price between aftermarket and pulled. For most folk, this is the best balance of quality and value. We use these widely.
Pulled original screens. Genuine screens removed from recycled phones that were damaged beyond repair but had functioning displays. 100% authentic quality and full compatibility. The premium option for folk who want their phone restored to exactly original condition.
We explain the differences and let you decide. No pressure toward the expensive option. Sometimes aftermarket makes perfect sense. Sometimes refurbished original is worth the extra. Your phone, your choice.
Our Repair Process
Diagnosis. We listen to what’s happening, then run our own tests. Sometimes what looks like one problem is actually another. A phone that “won’t charge” might just have debris in the port. A “broken screen” might have a digitiser fault in one corner that’s easy to miss. We check everything before quoting.
Clear options. We explain what’s wrong, what it’ll cost to fix, and what your screen quality options are (for screen repairs). No jargon, no pressure. If the repair doesn’t make financial sense (the cost is more than the phone is worth), we’ll tell you honestly.
Repair. Quality parts, proper tools, careful work. We transfer Face ID components, test every sensor, and make sure everything works. No rushing to hit a “30 minutes” marketing promise. Getting it right matters more than getting it fast.
Testing. Before you collect, we test every function. Cameras, speakers, microphones, Face ID or fingerprint sensor, wireless charging, all sensors. We run diagnostic software that checks touch response across the entire screen, battery health, and charging performance. If something isn’t working right, we catch it before you leave.
What to Expect When You Visit
Walk in. 153 Perth Road, Dundee. No appointment needed. Free parking behind the shop, no LEZ to worry about, and you can pull up right outside to drop off. We’re open Monday to Friday 9:30 to 17:30 and Saturday 10:00 to 17:00.
Turnaround. Most repairs take one to two hours. Screen replacements and battery swaps are the fastest. Water damage and complex repairs take longer because the board needs careful cleaning and drying. We’ll give you a realistic timeframe so you can plan your day. Perth Road has plenty of cafes if you want to wait nearby.
Your data. We don’t need your passcode for most hardware repairs, but it helps for testing afterwards. We never access your personal files. Your photos, messages, and apps stay exactly where they are. For repairs that might affect data (some water damage cases, storage issues), we discuss backup options with you first.
Warranty. Every repair comes with a 90-day warranty on parts and labour. If something we fixed develops a problem within that time, bring it back and we’ll sort it.
Emergency Repairs
Phone emergencies don’t happen at convenient times. If you’re traveling tomorrow and need your boarding pass, your phone handles your business payments, or you’re coordinating a family emergency, let us know when you arrive. We prioritise genuine urgent cases when we can.
Water damage is always urgent. Every hour matters. If your phone has been in liquid, don’t wait until tomorrow. Bring it in now.
If you need your phone for work and can’t be without it, tell us when you drop it off. We’ll do our best to get it back to you as quickly as possible. For screen replacements and battery swaps, same-day turnaround is standard when we have the part in stock.
Android or iPhone, we fix them all. Drap your phone in or gee’z a ring. Most repairs done same day.
Call UsMobile Phone Repair Questions
How long does a phone screen replacement take?
Most screen replacements take one to two hours when done properly. Newer iPhone models take slightly longer because of the Face ID components that need careful transfer. We won’t rush it because a quick job that breaks Face ID isn’t a good repair.
What brands do you repair?
iPhone (all models from iPhone 6 onwards), Samsung Galaxy (S series, A series, Note, Fold/Flip), Google Pixel, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Huawei, and more. If it’s a phone, we can probably fix it.
What’s the difference between aftermarket and original screens?
We offer three options. Aftermarket screens are third-party manufactured and most affordable. Refurbished original screens are genuine manufacturer displays restored to factory standards. Pulled original screens are genuine parts from recycled phones. We explain the differences and let you choose.
Is it worth repairing my phone or should I buy new?
If the repair costs less than half the price of a comparable new phone and the phone still runs well, repair usually makes sense. We’ll be honest if we think your phone isn’t worth fixing.
Will I lose my photos and data during repair?
No. Screen replacements, battery swaps, and charging port repairs don’t affect your data at all. For repairs that might (like some water damage situations), we’ll discuss backup options before starting.
My phone fell in water. What should I do?
Turn it off immediately. Don’t try to charge it. Don’t put it in rice. Bring it to us as fast as you can. The sooner we can open it and clean the internals, the better your chances of full recovery.
Do I need to book an appointment?
Nope. Just drap your phone in during opening hours: Monday to Friday 9:30 to 17:30, Saturday 10:00 to 17:00. 153 Perth Road, Dundee.
Can you fix a phone that won’t charge?
Aye. Sometimes it’s just debris packed into the charging port (a careful clean fixes it). Other times the port contacts are worn and need replacing. We diagnose which before quoting so you don’t pay for parts you don’t need.
How long does a battery replacement take?
About an hour for most iPhone and Samsung models. Your phone comes back with full battery health and should last a full day on a single charge again.
Do your repairs come with a warranty?
Every repair comes with a warranty on parts and labour. If something we fixed develops a problem, bring it back and we’ll sort it.
Phone Gubbed? Gee’z a Shout.
Walk-ins welcome. Most screen repairs done within the hour. Nae appointment needed.
