Computer Speaker Sales Dundee
Need computer speakers? Desktop speakers and soundbars in stock at our Perth Road shop. Walk in and listen before you buy.
Laptop speakers too quiet for video calls? Can’t hear anything over the fan noise? Need proper sound for music, gaming, or watching content? We stock desktop speakers, soundbars, portable Bluetooth speakers, and gaming speakers at our Perth Road shop.
Walk in, have a listen, and pick something that suits your setup. You can’t judge speakers from a product listing online. Sound is subjective and you need to hear them before you decide.
What We Stock
We carry speakers from Marvo and Prevo. Desktop speaker pairs, compact soundbars, portable Bluetooth speakers, and RGB gaming speakers. Something for every setup and budget.
Our range covers the most common use cases:
- Working from home: USB desktop speakers or a compact soundbar for clear video calls and background music
- Gaming: Marvo stereo speakers with RGB lighting and low-latency USB connection
- Portable use: Prevo Bluetooth speakers for taking music outdoors, to the kitchen, or on trips
- Small spaces: Compact soundbars that sit under your monitor without cluttering the desk
Stock changes as new models come in. If you’re after something specific, gee’z a shout on 01382 217272 and we’ll check before you come in.
Desktop Speakers
Desktop speaker pairs sit either side of your monitor and give you proper stereo sound. Left and right channels separated by the width of your desk. This stereo separation makes a noticeable difference for music, films, and video calls compared to the single speaker in your laptop or a phone propped up on the desk.
Most of our desktop speakers are USB-powered. One cable from the speaker to your computer’s USB port handles both power and audio. No separate plug socket needed, no power brick, no mess. Plug in and they work. No drivers to install, no settings to change.
USB-powered speakers are quieter than mains-powered speakers because there’s only so much power a USB port can deliver. For desk use (video calls, music at a reasonable volume, watching videos) they’re more than loud enough. If you need to fill a room, you’ll want powered speakers or a Bluetooth option.
For folk working from home, a pair of USB desktop speakers transforms your laptop from “can barely hear the person on the call” to “sounds like they’re in the room.” The difference in call clarity is worth the upgrade on its own.
If your laptop has a 3.5mm headphone jack, you can also use speakers that connect via aux cable. These need their own power source (USB or mains) since the 3.5mm port only carries the audio signal. Some newer laptops have dropped the 3.5mm port entirely, in which case USB or Bluetooth speakers are your options.
Soundbars
A soundbar is a single unit that sits under or in front of your monitor. All the speakers are in one bar, so there’s nothing on either side of your screen. Minimal desk space, clean look, one cable.
Prevo MS03 Wireless Stereo Soundbar. Compact enough to fit under most monitors. Bluetooth connectivity so you can also pair it with your phone for music. Rechargeable battery means you can use it without being plugged in. Good for video calls, music, and media at your desk.
Soundbars don’t give you the same stereo separation as a pair of desktop speakers because both channels come from the same unit. But for most folk who just want better sound than their laptop, a soundbar is simpler and tidier. One unit, done.
The Prevo MS03 also works as a portable speaker in a pinch. Take it to the kitchen while you cook, use it in the bedroom, or bring it to a meeting room for a group call. The Bluetooth connection means it works with your phone, tablet, or laptop without any cables.
Portable Bluetooth Speakers
Prevo ES-201 Portable Wireless Speaker. 20W output with Bluetooth connectivity. Waterproof rated so it handles rain, splashes, and outdoor conditions. Rechargeable battery for use away from a plug socket. Compact enough for a bag or backpack.
20W is plenty of volume for personal listening, a small room, or a garden gathering. It won’t fill a concert hall, but for picnics at Broughty Ferry beach, music in the garden, or sound in the kitchen while you cook, 20W does the job well.
The waterproof rating matters if you’re using it outdoors in Dundee’s climate. Rain, splashes from the pool, condensation at a campsite. A waterproof speaker handles all of that without worrying about damaging it. Just don’t submerge it in the Tay.
Bluetooth pairing is straightforward. Turn it on, find it in your phone’s Bluetooth settings, connect. It remembers the last paired device so next time it connects automatically. Works with iPhones, Android phones, tablets, and laptops.
Battery life on portable speakers varies. At moderate volume you’ll get several hours of playback from the Prevo ES-201. Playing at maximum volume drains the battery faster, as you’d expect. It charges via USB-C, so the same cable you use for your phone charges the speaker.
Gaming Speakers
Marvo Scorpion Havoc 30. 2.0 stereo gaming speakers with RGB LED lighting. The LEDs cycle through colours and add some atmosphere to your gaming setup. USB-powered so they connect to your PC with a single cable.
For gaming, the key thing is low latency. You need the sound to match what’s happening on screen without any delay. USB-connected speakers have essentially zero latency because the audio goes directly from your PC to the speakers via cable. Bluetooth speakers can have a slight delay (20 to 100 milliseconds) that’s noticeable in fast-paced games. For gaming, wired is better.
The Havoc 30 speakers are designed for desk setups where you want decent game audio without headphones. Good for late-night gaming when you don’t want to wake the rest of the house but also don’t want headphones on for hours. They’re compact enough to fit on a desk alongside a monitor, keyboard, and mouse without taking over.
If you’re after a serious gaming audio setup with subwoofers and surround sound, that’s specialist territory. But for everyday gaming at your desk, a good pair of 2.0 stereo speakers gives you positional audio, clear dialogue, and enough bass to feel explosions. The Havoc 30 handles all of that.
We also stock the Marvo Havoc 20 (SG-285 BK), a compact stereo set with RGB backlighting, inline volume control, and USB-powered audio. A good pick for smaller desks where the Havoc 30 is overkill.
How to Choose
The right speaker depends on what you’re using it for:
Video calls and working from home: USB desktop speakers or a compact soundbar. Plug in, works immediately, clear voice audio. The Prevo soundbar is our top pick for home workers.
Music at your desk: Desktop speaker pair for stereo separation, or the Prevo portable speaker if you want to move it around the house.
Gaming: Marvo Havoc 30 USB speakers. Wired for zero latency, RGB for atmosphere, stereo for directional audio.
Outdoor use or portability: Prevo ES-201 Bluetooth speaker. Waterproof, rechargeable, 20W. Take it anywhere.
Connection types:
- USB: simplest. One cable for power and audio. Zero latency. Best for desktop/gaming.
- 3.5mm aux: the headphone jack. Works with any device that has one. Needs separate power for the speakers.
- Bluetooth: wireless. Tidy, portable, works with phones and laptops. Slight latency for video/gaming.
If your laptop doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio port (some newer models don’t), USB speakers or Bluetooth solve the problem without needing an adapter.

Why Buy In-Store
Sound is personal. What sounds good to one person sounds tinny to another. Walk in, have a listen, and decide for yourself. You can’t do that from a product listing online.
We can also check that the speakers you choose will work with your computer. If you’re not sure what ports your laptop has, bring it in and we’ll match you up. If you need a cable or adapter to connect them, we stock those too.
If your computer itself needs fixing (sound card issues, software problems, or hardware repairs), we handle that as well. Sometimes “no sound from the speakers” is actually a computer problem, not a speaker problem. We’ll diagnose which before selling you something you might not need.
We also stock cables, power banks, phone cases, and all the other accessories you might need. Sort everything in one visit.
