Popped in with my broken phone, the team explained what I had broken and what would need to be replaced.
Explained the use of genuine parts, correct model and colour matching.
Parts took a day longer to arrive, but there was a storm so yknow, these things happen, popped in when parts arrived with phone, an hour later it was ready for collection.
Looks better than new!
Excellent, good quality and friendly service, highly recommended!

First time visit with successful outcome, very knowledgeable professional manager will recommend & reuse again.
Very impressive & very glad I dropped in.
Android phone on the blink? Whether it is a Samsung with a cracked screen, a Google Pixel that won’t charge, or a Huawei with a dead battery, we fix them all.
Android phones make up a huge chunk of the repairs we do at our Perth Road workshop. Samsung alone accounts for a big portion, but we also see plenty of Google Pixels, Huawei, OnePlus, Xiaomi and Motorola phones coming through the door.
Every brand builds their phones differently. Samsung bonds their screens to the frame in a way that needs specialist tools. Google Pixels have their own quirks with adhesive and flex cables. Huawei and OnePlus use components that are not always easy to source. We have been repairing all of them for years and we know the differences.
We use the right parts for each brand. Samsung repairs get Samsung service pack parts. Google Pixel repairs get Google service packs. For other brands we use quality aftermarket parts that match the original spec. We will not fit cheap parts just to keep the price down, because cheap parts fail and you end up back in the shop.
Before we start any repair, we run the phone through our diagnostic software where possible. It tests touch response, cameras, speakers, microphone, battery health and charging. Full health report before and after, so you can see everything has been sorted.
Every repair comes with a 90-day warranty. Walk-ins welcome, nae appointment needed. Drap your Android phone in tae 153 Perth Road and we will get it sorted.
Common Android Phone Problems
Android phones come from dozens of manufacturers. Common repairs include cracked screens, battery replacements, charging port repairs, and water damage recovery. Android phones come from dozens of manufacturers, all building hardware differently. That variety means a wider range of faults than you see on iPhone. Here are the most common problems we repair:
Cracked screens. The number one reason folk bring Android phones in. Samsung AMOLED screens are fragile despite Gorilla Glass protection. One drop on a hard surface and the display cracks or goes black.
Battery degradation. Android phones lose battery capacity over time, just like any lithium battery. After 18 months to two years, most phones hold noticeably less charge. Samsung and Pixel phones are straightforward to re-battery.
Charging port failure. USB-C ports take a battering. Lint, dust and general wear cause intermittent charging or no charging at all. We replace charging port flex cables daily.
Water damage. IP ratings help, but they are not waterproof. Salt water, soapy water and drops in drinks still cause damage. We clean corrosion and replace affected components.
Camera issues. Blurry photos, camera app crashing, or a black screen when you open the camera. Usually a faulty camera module or flex cable.
Software problems. Boot loops, apps crashing, phone running slow. Sometimes a factory reset sorts it, sometimes the storage chip is failing.
If your Android phone has a problem not listed here, bring it in anyway. We have likely seen it before.
Samsung Repair Dundee
Samsung is the brand we repair most, after Apple. Galaxy S series, A series, Z Flip, Z Fold, Note series. We work on all of them.
Samsung bonds their AMOLED screens to the frame using strong adhesive and a mid-frame assembly. That means screen repairs need the full service pack, which includes the screen, digitiser and frame as one unit. We use genuine Samsung service pack parts for all Samsung screen repairs. Aftermarket Samsung screens exist, but the colour accuracy and touch response are never as good as the real thing.
The Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold are a different beast entirely. The folding screen uses ultra-thin glass that is more delicate than standard phone screens. The hinge mechanism is a precision component with its own set of potential problems. We repair both the inner folding display and the outer cover screen on these models.
Samsung battery replacements are straightforward on most models. The Galaxy S series uses adhesive pull tabs to hold the battery in place, making removal clean when done with the right tools. We fit genuine capacity replacements and recalibrate the battery meter so the percentage reading is accurate from day one.
Samsung phone needs fixing? Walk in or give us a call.
A Google Pixel with a cracked screen brought in for replacement. Pixel OLED panels need genuine service pack parts for the best result.
Google Pixel Repair Dundee
Google Pixel phones are well-built but they have their own quirks when it comes to repair. The adhesive Google uses is aggressive, and the back glass on Pixel phones is notoriously difficult to remove without cracking it.
We repair Pixel 6, 6a, 6 Pro, Pixel 7, 7a, 7 Pro, Pixel 8, 8a, 8 Pro, Pixel 9, 9a, 9 Pro and 9 Pro Fold. Screen repairs use Google service pack parts where available. The OLED panels Google uses are high quality, and aftermarket replacements do not match the same colour accuracy.
Pixel battery replacements require careful work because of the adhesive. The battery is glued in firmly and needs controlled heat and patience to remove without puncturing it. We have the tools and experience to do this safely.
One common Pixel issue we see is the phone overheating and throttling performance. Sometimes this is a software issue that a factory reset fixes. Sometimes the thermal paste between the processor and the heat spreader has dried out or was poorly applied from the factory. We can reapply thermal compound to bring temperatures back to normal.
Google has been improving repairability with each generation, even partnering with iFixit for official spare parts and publishing repair guides. The Pixel 8 and 9 series are designed to be more repair-friendly than earlier models, with better adhesive pull tabs and more accessible components. That is good news for repair costs.
Huawei, OnePlus and Other Brands
We do not just repair Samsung and Google. We fix Huawei, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Motorola, Sony, Nokia and other Android brands that come through the door.
Huawei phones are well-engineered but parts sourcing can be tricky due to supply chain restrictions. We keep common Huawei parts in stock and can source others within a few days. The P series and Mate series are the models we see most often.
OnePlus phones are popular with folk who want flagship specs without paying flagship prices. One thing to know: OnePlus and OPPO use their own proprietary fast charging standard (SUPERVOOC) rather than standard USB Power Delivery. That means replacement charging port assemblies need to support the proprietary protocol, or you lose fast charging capability. The build quality is good and they are reasonably repair-friendly. Screen repairs on OnePlus phones use quality aftermarket parts that match the original AMOLED spec.
Xiaomi and Motorola phones are increasingly common in Dundee. Both brands offer good value for money, and when something goes wrong, the repair costs are usually reasonable because parts are widely available and competitively priced.
For less common brands, we can usually source parts within a few days. If we cannot get the exact part, we will tell you upfront rather than fitting something that is not right.
Android Screen Repair
Screen repair is the most common Android repair we do. A cracked screen is not just a cosmetic problem. Cracks weaken the glass structure, let dust and moisture into the display layers, and can eventually cause the touchscreen to stop responding in certain areas.
Android screen repairs vary significantly by brand and model. Samsung AMOLED screens are the most expensive because the display, digitiser and frame come as one bonded unit. Google Pixel screens are also AMOLED and need the full assembly. Budget phones from Xiaomi and Motorola often use LCD screens which are cheaper to replace.
We always tell you the cost before we start. No surprises. If the screen repair costs more than the phone is worth, we will say so and you can make your own decision.
Most Android screen repairs are done same day if we have the part in stock. Samsung Galaxy S and A series screens are always in stock. Other models may need a day or two for the part to arrive.
We use Samsung service pack screens for all Samsung repairs. The colour accuracy, touch response and brightness are noticeably better than aftermarket alternatives. There’s another reason we insist on service packs for Samsung: the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is built into the display assembly on Galaxy S series phones. It works by sending pulses through the screen to map your fingerprint. Aftermarket screens have different glass thickness and calibration, which can break the fingerprint sensor entirely or make it unreliable. Service pack screens maintain full fingerprint function.
Android Battery Replacement
If your Android phone does not last the day any more, the battery is probably due for replacement. Lithium batteries degrade with every charge cycle. After 500 full cycles, which is roughly 18 months to two years of normal use, most batteries have lost 15 to 20 percent of their original capacity. After three years, some are down to 60 percent.
Signs your Android phone needs a new battery:
The phone does not last a full day on a single charge when it used to
The battery percentage drops rapidly, especially in cold weather
The phone shuts down at 15 or 20 percent instead of running down to zero
The back of the phone feels warm even when you are not using it
The battery health reading in the settings shows degradation (Samsung shows this in Device Care)
We replace batteries on all major Android brands. Samsung, Google Pixel, Huawei, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Motorola. Most battery replacements are done within an hour.
A new battery gives your phone another two years of solid battery life. It is the most cost-effective upgrade you can do, and it keeps a perfectly good phone out of the landfill for a few more years.
Android vs iPhone Repair
Folk sometimes ask whether Android phones are harder or easier to repair than iPhones. The answer is: it depends on the brand.
Samsung flagship phones are comparable to iPhones in terms of repair difficulty. Both use strong adhesive, both have components paired to the motherboard, and both need genuine parts for the best results. Samsung screen repairs are often more expensive than iPhone screen repairs because the AMOLED service pack includes the frame.
Google Pixel phones have become more repair-friendly with each generation. Google has partnered with iFixit and designed the newer Pixels with repairability in mind. That is a positive trend.
Budget Android phones from Xiaomi, Motorola and Nokia are generally the easiest and cheapest to repair. They use less exotic components, parts are widely available, and the designs are more straightforward to work on.
One advantage Android phones have over iPhones is that you can often keep using an Android phone with a cracked screen for longer, because Android lets you access your data and settings more easily even with a partially broken display. That said, we would still recommend getting it fixed sooner rather than later to prevent further damage.
Whatever brand of Android phone you have, we can fix it. Bring it to 153 Perth Road and we will take a look.
// FAQ
Android Phone Repair Questions
What Android brands do you repair?
Samsung Galaxy (S, A, Note, Z Flip, Z Fold), Google Pixel, Huawei, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Motorola, Nokia, Sony, and more. If it’s an Android phone, we can almost certainly fix it.
Why do you use Samsung service pack screens instead of aftermarket?
Samsung AMOLED service pack screens are significantly better than aftermarket alternatives. They’re brighter, more colour-accurate, and the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor only works properly with genuine Samsung screens. Aftermarket Samsung screens can break the fingerprint sensor or produce grey blacks instead of true blacks.
How long does an Android screen replacement take?
Most screen replacements are done same day if we have the part in stock. Samsung Galaxy S and A series screens are always in stock. Google Pixel and less common models may take a day or two for parts to arrive.
Is it worth repairing an old Android phone?
If the phone is under four years old and the repair costs less than half what a replacement would cost, usually aye. Budget Android phones are cheaper to repair than flagships, so the maths often works out. We’ll be honest if repair doesn’t make sense for your specific phone.
Can you repair Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold screens?
Aye. Both the inner folding display and the outer cover screen. Folding screens use ultra-thin glass and are more delicate than standard screens. The parts cost more and the repair takes longer, but we have the experience to do it properly.
Do you repair Google Pixel phones?
Aye. Pixel 6 through Pixel 9 series including Pro and Fold models. We use Google service pack parts where available. Google has been improving Pixel repairability with each generation, which is good news for repair costs.
Will I lose fast charging after a charging port replacement?
Not with the right parts. Samsung and Google service pack charging assemblies maintain full fast charging speed. For OnePlus, we use parts compatible with their proprietary SUPERVOOC charging standard. Cheap aftermarket parts can lose fast charging capability.
Can you fix an Android phone with water damage?
Often, aye. We open the phone, clean corrosion from the board and components, and replace anything that’s been damaged. The sooner you bring it in after water exposure, the better the chances. Don’t put it in rice.
Do I need to book an appointment?
Nope. Just drap your Android phone in during opening hours: Monday to Friday 9:30 to 17:30, Saturday 10:00 to 17:00. 153 Perth Road, Dundee.
Do your Android repairs come with a warranty?
Every repair comes with a 90-day warranty on parts and labour. If something we fixed develops a problem, bring it back and we’ll sort it.
