The iPad Mini 2 (A1489, A1490) was released in 2013 as the Retina Mini with the same A7 chip as the iPad Air. It features an 7.9-inch 2048x1536 Retina display powered by the Apple A7 chip. It packed a full Retina display into the compact Mini body and used the same 64-bit A7 chip as the iPad Air, making it remarkably capable for its size.
