About the iPhone 12 Pro
The iPhone 12 Pro (models A2341, A2406, A2407, A2408) brought the Pro camera system into the flat-edged iPhone 12 design when it launched in October 2020. The triple 12MP camera setup, wide, ultra-wide, and 2x telephoto, gained Apple ProRAW for professional-grade photo editing, and the LiDAR scanner enabled Night Mode portraits and faster AR experiences. The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display was framed by a surgical-grade stainless steel band, and the A14 Bionic chip handled everything from Dolby Vision HDR video recording to computational photography. The iPhone 12 Pro remains a seriously capable device and we see regular repair demand at our West End workshop. The stainless steel frame is more durable than the aluminium on the standard 12, but both front and back glass can crack from drops. The LiDAR scanner adds complexity to the rear camera assembly, but fortunately it is part of the same module and gets replaced as a unit if any camera component fails. Battery degradation is catching up on these models, with many cells now below 80% health. Face ID faults, OLED screen damage, and charging port wear are all standard repairs. The LiDAR scanner is part of the rear camera module. If it fails, the whole module gets replaced, which also gives you three fresh camera lenses. We can usually source the part and have it done the same day.
