The iPhone 14 (models A2649, A2881, A2882, A2884) brought meaningful safety and camera upgrades when it launched in September 2022. The headline features were Emergency SOS via satellite, letting you contact emergency services even without mobile signal and Crash Detection, which could automatically call for help after a severe car accident. The 12MP main camera gained a larger sensor with bigger pixels for better low-light performance, and the Photonic Engine processing pipeline improved image quality across all lighting conditions. The A15 Bionic chip (5-core GPU variant) kept things fast, and the 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display was brighter at 1200 nits HDR. The US model (A2649) is eSIM only with no physical SIM tray. International models including the European A2881 still have a nano-SIM tray plus eSIM. If you have bought a US model and need help setting up eSIM, we can assist at our Dundee shop.
