About the iPhone 6S Plus
The iPhone 6S Plus (models A1634, A1687, A1699) took everything good about the iPhone 6S and stretched it to a 5.5-inch Retina HD display with optical image stabilisation on the camera. Released in September 2015, it combined the A9 chip's raw power with a larger 2750 mAh battery for proper all-day use. The 12MP camera with OIS was the best iPhone camera Apple had made at that point, capable of shooting 4K video and Live Photos. Like its smaller sibling, it got 3D Touch pressure sensitivity and the tougher 7000 series aluminium body. For anyone who wanted the biggest, most capable iPhone of 2015, the 6S Plus was the clear choice. We repair every component of this device at our Perth Road shop in Dundee.
The 6S Plus holds up well for its age, and we still repair a good number of them at our West End workshop. The larger screen means a bigger surface area to crack, and we see plenty of shattered displays coming through the door. Battery degradation is the other major one, after nearly a decade of charge cycles, most 6S Plus batteries are well past their useful life. 3D Touch failures, home button issues where Touch ID stops reading fingerprints, and worn Lightning ports are all regular repairs. The OIS camera module can also develop a rattling noise or focus problems over time. Our technicians have over 20 years' combined experience and know these devices back to front.

How much does an iPhone 6S Plus screen replacement cost in Dundee?
The 5.5-inch display is a bit more than the standard 6S but still very affordable. Gee'z a ring for the current price. We use quality screens with full 3D Touch support and the repair takes about 45 minutes.
My iPhone 6S Plus camera is rattling - is that normal?
A slight click when you shake the phone is normal - that is the OIS mechanism at rest. But if it is loud, constant, or your photos are coming out blurry, the OIS module likely needs replacing. Drap it in and we'll have a look.
Can you fix an iPhone 6S Plus that overheats?
Overheating usually points to a degraded battery or a rogue process hogging the CPU. We'll run a diagnostic at our Perth Road workshop - if it is the battery, a swap will sort it. If it is software, we can advise on that too.
Is the iPhone 6S Plus still getting iOS updates?
The 6S Plus topped out at iOS 15.8. That is excellent longevity - most apps still run and Apple pushes occasional security patches. It is genuinely still a usable daily phone if the hardware is in decent shape.
Can you replace the Touch ID button on my 6S Plus?
Aye, we can replace the home button so it clicks properly. Touch ID is paired to the original button though, so a new button will work for navigation but fingerprint unlock won't function. We'll explain this before starting any work.
My iPhone 6S Plus won't charge unless I hold the cable at an angle - help?
Classic worn Lightning port. Years of plugging and unplugging loosens the connector, and lint builds up inside too. We replace the full dock assembly including the port and microphone. Usually done in under an hour at our Dundee shop.
