About the iPod Touch 7th Gen
The iPod Touch 7th Generation (A2178) was released in May 2019 as the final iPod ever made by Apple, marking the end of an era. It featured the Apple A10 Fusion chip (the same processor as the iPhone 7), a 4-inch Retina display, and storage options up to 256GB. While it kept the same exterior design as the 6th Gen, the A10 Fusion chip brought support for Group FaceTime, AR apps, and Apple Arcade gaming. It was the last Apple device to ship without any form of biometric authentication. Discontinued in May 2022, it ran iOS up to version 15.8.3. We repair every component at our Perth Road workshop in Dundee.
As the final iPod Touch, the 7th Gen has become something of a collector's item while still being a practical device for music, messaging, and gaming. Common repairs include cracked screens (same 4-inch fused display assembly as previous generations), battery replacements (essential as these cells age), Lightning port issues, and power button failures. The A10 Fusion chip means it still runs modern apps reasonably well. Our technicians have over 20 years' combined experience and treat these last-ever iPods with the respect they deserve.
The iPod Touch 7th Gen was the very last iPod Apple ever made. If yours is still going and needs some love, drap it in to our Perth Road workshop. We will keep it alive as long as we can.
The iPod Touch 7th Generation shipped as a single model (A2178) worldwide in WiFi-only configuration. All units share identical internal hardware regardless of storage size or colour, so replacement parts are universal.
