About the Mac mini A1347 (Mid 2010)

The Mac mini A1347 (Mid 2010) was a major redesign that introduced the slim aluminium unibody shell that would define the Mac mini for years. The new form factor was dramatically thinner, dropped FireWire, and added HDMI output alongside Mini DisplayPort. Powered by a Core 2 Duo at 2.4GHz with 2GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive, it also came in a Server configuration with dual hard drives and no optical drive. Common problems include hard drive failure, overheating, slow performance, and power supply issues. We fix all of these at our Perth Road workshop.

The Mid 2010 Mac mini is still very repairable. The bottom panel twists off to reveal the RAM slots and hard drive, making upgrades straightforward. An SSD swap and RAM upgrade to 8GB transforms this machine from painfully slow to perfectly usable for everyday tasks. Our technicians have over 20 years' combined experience and have worked on countless A1347 units. If your 2010 Mac mini is sluggish, crashing, or will not turn on, bring it to our Dundee workshop and we will have a look.

The 2010 Mac mini in its new slim shell was a crackin wee machine. An SSD and memory upgrade makes it usable again. Drap it into Perth Road and we'll get it flying.

The A1347 Mid 2010 was the first Mac mini with an HDMI port and the first with the unibody aluminium design. The Server model replaced the optical drive with a second hard drive bay, making it popular as a home server.

Mac mini A1347 (Mid 2010) Repair Questions

Can you upgrade the RAM in my 2010 Mac mini?

Aye, the 2010 Mac mini supports up to 8GB of DDR3. The bottom panel twists off to give easy access to the RAM slots. We can have it upgraded in no time.

My 2010 Mac mini is painfully slow. What can you do?

Nine times out of ten, an SSD swap is the answer. The stock 5400rpm hard drive is the bottleneck. An SSD makes the whole machine feel brand new. Drap it in and we'll sort it.

Can you repair the power supply on my Mac mini?

Aye, power supply failures are common on these older Mac minis. We can source replacement parts and get it running again. Bring it in to our Perth Road workshop.

My Mac mini A1347 will not boot past the Apple logo. What is wrong?

That is usually a failing hard drive or a corrupted operating system. We'll run a diagnostic to find out which, and either replace the drive or reinstall macOS for you.

Is the 2010 Mac mini Server model worth repairing?

The Server model with dual hard drive bays is actually great value for repair. Pop two SSDs in there and max the RAM, and you have got a capable wee machine. We'll give you our honest opinion when you bring it in.

How long do Mac mini repairs usually take?

Most repairs take 1 to 3 working days. SSD and RAM upgrades are often same day. We'll give you a clear timeline when you drap it in to Perth Road.
