About the MacBook Pro 15″ A1260 (Early 2008)

The MacBook Pro 15" A1260 (Early 2008) was one of the last pre-unibody MacBook Pros, featuring a 15.4-inch 1440x900 display, Core 2 Duo processor, and model number A1260. It used DDR2 memory, a SATA hard drive, and an NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT dedicated GPU. We repair every component at our Perth Road workshop in Dundee.

The 8600M GT GPU is notorious for failure on these models due to lead-free solder defects. Beyond GPU problems, hard drive failure, swelling batteries, and broken hinges are all common. RAM is upgradeable and an SSD swap helps significantly. Our technicians have over 20 years' combined experience.

The 2008 MacBook Pro is getting on in years but still fixable. GPU failure is the big one on these. Drap it in to Perth Road and we'll give you an honest assessment.

The A1260 came in multiple processor speed configurations. All share the same internal hardware and accept identical replacement parts.
