About the Xbox One S
The Xbox One S (model 1681) was released in August 2016 as a smaller, more refined version of the original Xbox One. It was 40% smaller, moved the power supply internally (eliminating the external brick), added 4K UHD Blu-ray playback, 4K media streaming, and HDR gaming support. The white design became iconic. We repair every component at our Perth Road workshop in Dundee.
Common Xbox One S repairs include overheating (the internal power supply and smaller chassis mean heat management is critical), disc drive failures, HDMI port damage, fan noise, and hard drive issues. The internal PSU eliminated the external brick failure point but introduced new thermal challenges. Our technicians have over 20 years' combined experience with console repairs.
The Xbox One S was a proper upgrade over the original. Smaller, cleaner, 4K Blu-ray built in. If yours isnae running right, drap it in to Perth Road. We ken these consoles inside oot.
The Xbox One S shipped as model 1681 in various storage configurations. A later All-Digital Edition (1681) removed the disc drive. Both share identical internals for fan, PSU, and HDMI repairs.
