About the Xbox One

The Xbox One (model 1540) was Microsoft's eighth-generation home console, launched in November 2013. It featured an AMD APU combining an 8-core Jaguar CPU with a custom GPU, 8GB DDR3 RAM, and a Blu-ray drive. The original model included a Kinect port, HDMI passthrough for TV integration, and an external power supply unit. We repair every component at our Perth Road workshop in Dundee.

Common Xbox One repairs include power supply failure (the external brick is a known weak point), overheating from dust-clogged fans and dried thermal paste, HDMI port damage from rough cable handling, disc drive failures, and hard drive upgrades. The internal fan collects dust over time and needs cleaning to prevent thermal shutdown. Our technicians have over 20 years' combined experience and work on gaming consoles regularly.

The original Xbox One is a tank of a console but that external power brick lets it down. If yours willnae turn on or keeps overheating, drap it in to our Perth Road workshop. We will sort it oot.

The Xbox One launched as model 1540 worldwide. Later revisions removed the Kinect port. All accept identical replacement parts for power supplies, fans, HDMI ports, and disc drives.

Xbox One Repair Questions

My Xbox One will not turn on. Can you fix it?

Aye, no power is the most common Xbox One issue. It is usually the external power supply brick. We can test and replace it at our Perth Road workshop.

My Xbox One is overheating and shutting down. Can you help?

Overheating is caused by dust buildup and dried thermal paste. We clean the internals, replace thermal paste, and check the fan. Drap it in.

Can you fix a broken HDMI port on my Xbox One?

Aye, HDMI port replacement is a common Xbox repair. The port gets damaged from rough cable handling. Board-level soldering required. We handle it.

Can you upgrade the Xbox One hard drive to an SSD?

Aye, replacing the 500GB or 1TB HDD with an SSD dramatically improves load times. We can clone your existing data across too.

My Xbox One disc drive is not reading discs. Can you fix it?

Disc drive failures are common. Sometimes it is a laser issue, sometimes the drive mechanism. Bring it in and we will diagnose it.

Is it worth repairing an original Xbox One?

If you still use it for gaming or media, a repair is much cheaper than buying a new console. We will always be honest about whether it makes sense.
