About the Nintendo Switch Lite
The Nintendo Switch Lite (HDH-001) launched in September 2019 as a dedicated handheld version of the Switch. Unlike the standard Switch, the controllers are built into the body and it cannot connect to a TV. It features a 5.5-inch 720p touchscreen, a lighter and more compact design, and comes in Yellow, Turquoise, Grey, Coral, and Blue. The integrated controls mean stick drift requires opening the console itself rather than just swapping a Joy-Con. We repair every component at our Perth Road workshop in Dundee.
The Switch Lite is popular with younger gamers and commuters, and we see steady repair demand. The most common issue is analog stick drift, which is a bigger problem on the Lite because the controls are integrated into the unit (you cannot just swap a Joy-Con). Screen replacements, charging port repairs, and software issues are also common. The smaller battery means degradation shows up earlier than on the full-size Switch. Is stick drift harder to fix on the Switch Lite than the regular Switch?
The stick module itself is the same repair, but on the Lite the console needs to be opened up because the controls are built in. It takes a bit longer but we handle it regularly.
My Switch Lite screen is cracked. Can you replace it?
Aye, the 5.5-inch LCD is replaceable. Bring it to our Perth Road workshop and we will sort it.
Can the Switch Lite be connected to a TV after repair?
No. The Switch Lite was designed as handheld only and does not have TV output hardware. That is a hardware limitation, not something a repair can change.
My Switch Lite charging port is loose. Can you fix that?
Aye, USB-C port replacements are a common repair. The port takes a lot of wear from daily charging. We can replace it at our Dundee workshop.
Is it worth repairing a Switch Lite or should I just buy a new one?
A stick drift or screen repair is much cheaper than a new console. If you have games and save data on it, a repair makes good sense. We will always give you an honest assessment.
How long does a Switch Lite stick drift repair take?
