About the PlayStation 4 Pro

The PlayStation 4 Pro (CUH-7000 series) launched in November 2016 as the enhanced PS4, delivering 4K upscaled gaming and HDR output. The upgraded 4.2 TFLOP GPU more than doubled the original PS4's graphics performance, and Boost Mode improved frame rates on older titles. It kept backward compatibility with all PS4 games while offering enhanced visuals on supported titles. We repair every component at our Perth Road workshop in Dundee.

The PS4 Pro generates significantly more heat than the standard PS4 due to its more powerful GPU, making overheating the single most common repair we see. Thermal paste degradation, dust-clogged fans, HDMI port damage, disc drive failures, and hard drive issues are all regular repairs. The CUH-7200 revision was the quietest, while earlier models (CUH-7000, CUH-7100) are notoriously loud. Our technicians have over 20 years' combined experience.

The PS4 Pro is a cracking machine but it runs hot. If yours sounds like it is about to take off or the picture keeps cutting oot, drap it in to Perth Road. A thermal rework makes a world of difference.

Three main revisions: CUH-7000 (launch, loudest), CUH-7100 (revised), CUH-7200 (final, quietest with different PSU). All share identical HDMI port, disc drive, and fan components.

PlayStation 4 Pro Repair Questions

My PS4 Pro is incredibly loud. Can you fix that?

The PS4 Pro is notorious for fan noise, especially the CUH-7000 and 7100 models. A full thermal rework with quality paste makes a dramatic difference. Drap it in.

Can you fix HDMI issues on my PS4 Pro?

Aye, HDMI port replacement is precision soldering work. Fuzzy picture, no signal, or a damaged port are all fixable.

My PS4 Pro keeps crashing during gameplay. What is wrong?

Crashes are usually thermal (overheating causes the APU to throttle or shut down) or storage related. We diagnose the root cause at our Perth Road workshop.

Can you upgrade the PS4 Pro to an SSD?

Aye, same 2.5-inch SATA slot as the standard PS4. An SSD cuts load times significantly. We handle the swap and system reinstall.

Which PS4 Pro model is quietest?

The CUH-7200 (final revision) is significantly quieter than earlier models. Check the model number on the back label. If you have an earlier model, a thermal rework helps.

Is the PS4 Pro still worth repairing?

It plays the entire PS4 library with enhanced visuals and still handles most games well. A repair is far cheaper than upgrading to PS5. We will advise honestly.
