About the PlayStation 4 Slim
The PlayStation 4 Slim (CUH-2000 series) launched in September 2016 as a smaller, lighter, and quieter replacement for the original PS4. It used a more efficient chip process, moved the power supply internally, added HDR support, and featured a rounded design. It became the standard PS4 model for the rest of the generation's lifespan. We repair every component at our Perth Road workshop in Dundee.
The PS4 Slim is generally more reliable than the original thanks to better thermal design, but repairs still come up after years of daily use. Common issues include disc drive failures (jammed or not reading), HDMI port damage, overheating from dust buildup, hard drive degradation, and WiFi/Bluetooth antenna problems. The internal PSU eliminated the failure point of the original's external brick equivalent. Our technicians have over 20 years' combined experience.
