The PlayStation 4 (CUH-1000 series) launched in November 2013 as Sony's eighth-generation console, selling over 117 million units worldwide. It featured 8GB GDDR5 unified memory, a custom AMD APU, and introduced the DualShock 4 controller with its signature touchpad and light bar. Multiple hardware revisions (CUH-1000, CUH-1100, CUH-1200) improved power efficiency and reduced fan noise over the original's lifespan.
